About John
John opens with the Word, creation, light, and the Word becoming flesh (John 1:1–18). The book states that its recorded signs are written so readers may believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and have life in his name (John 20:30–31). This is the book’s own purpose statement, not a claim about a settled author or composition date.
